1. Dr. Sougata Mukherjea

Biography:

Sougata Mukherjea is a Research Staff Member and Manager of the Telecom Research Innovation Center in IBM India Research Lab. He received his Bachelors from Jadavpur University, Calcutta, MS from Northeastern University, Boston and PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta (all in Computer Science). Before joining IBM, he held research and software architect positions in companies in Silicon Valley (California) including NEC USA, Inktomi and BEA Systems. His research interests include Middleware technologies and its applications to Telecom, Information Retrieval and Text Mining. He has several patents and publications in reputed Computer Science conferences and journals in these research areas.

2. Swami Krishnan

Biography:

Swami is with Sasken Communication Technologies Limited as the Chief Marketing Officer. He is responsible for Central Marketing, Communications, Branding, Business Development including New Product Initiatives, Mergers & Acquisitions and Investor Relations for Sasken Swami has 20 years of experience in the Telecommunications industry and has worked both in India and overseas on several key assignments. He has worked with equipment manufacturers, telecom software developers and telecommunication services providers. He has worked in a wide spectrum of areas including: Sales and Major Account Management, Product Development and Management, Standardization, Regulatory affairs, Business Development and Strategy. Swami has been a keen contributor to formulation of successful strategies for the deployment of nation wide Paging, Cellular and Fixed networks in India and Middle East Asia. He also has experience in planning and implementing value added services including Voice/SMS/Unified Messaging Systems, Intelligent Networks, Wireless Data Services, and Data Centric Networks in several markets. His interests include teaching, travel and music. He is a frequent guest faculty at various management institutes including IIM Bangalore, TAPMI and Symbiosis. He has been a keen proponent of Corporate Social Responsibility in the business houses he has worked with. Sasken, a pioneer in telecom R&D outsourcing, from its humble origins as a silicon design automation company, has since emerged as the country’s leading provider of innovative solutions to global leaders amongst NEMs, Semicon, Mobile Handsets, and Service Providers. Central to Sasken’s success is its strategy of complementary offerings in IP and services. Several of its embedded solution components have been integrated into products which have been launched commercially by customers in the leading telecom markets worldwide. Sasken’s accumulated experience and depth of knowledge in IP & Telecom R&D Services make a significant entry barrier for other entrants. In his earlier assignment with Tata Group, he was with Tata Teleservices from the inception and held several key responsibilities in the corporate management team. Tata Teleservices is the Tata Group’s largest telecommunications venture. Working with the President – Telecom he was responsible for Business Planning, Strategy formulation and Evaluation and Implementation of New Products and Technologies. Tata Teleservices is one of the largest telecommunication service providers in India with a current footprint covering over three quarters of the voice and data market revenues in India. This has since been expanded to cover the entire nation. Tata Teleservices has rolled out cdma2000 (3G-1X) networks and provides both mobility and fixed wireless services to over a million customers. Swami played a critical role in a team that helped close a Metro Ethernet contract to roll out “Broadband Triple Play Services” in to top eight metros in India. The Tata Group’s Long distance and Broadband vehicle VSNL (formerly the Government’s Long distance carrier) is building a broadband Wireline network to deliver “Voice, Video and High Speed Data Access to residential consumers and corporate customers on a Pan India scale. - 2 – The Tata Groups telecom business spanning largest Long Distance Services, Internet Service, Corporate VPN services (VSNL), VSAT services (Tata Net), Access Mobility offerings (Tata Teleservices) and IT Services are offered as “packaged and bundled services” under a common brand “Tata Indicom”. To provide a consistent and consultative single customer interface, an account servicing and service delivery organization has been set up called the Tata Indicom Enterprise Business Unit. Later on he moved internally within the Tata Group to Tata Infotech Ltd. to head the Global Marketing and Business Development Group. His was responsible for formulation of Strategies to enhance Market Competitiveness and Go to Market services for abroad range of IT service offerings. Additionally Swami was the Practice Head of Telecom. He was also responsible for Alliances, Vendors Partnerships and Management with a focus on enhancing business through new offerings/customers.

5. Vinay Dhar

Biography:

Vinay works as specialist for communication sector unit. Have been working in Microsoft since 2005 and in total of over 12 years of international and domestic experience in complex telecom service layer software systems and solutions. Experience in the area of setting up Managed/Hosted service business for telecom carriers globally specifically in the area of service layer data applications such as Pre-paid and Post-paid charging, IN services such as Televoting, MMS service, Push to Talk service, CRBT and other Value added services and service delivery platform. Worked with companies like Ericsson India, Ericsson USA, Ericsson Hewlett Packard Ltd. (EHPT) USA , Telia and ITI. On the Education front, Vinay possesses a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Marketing & Finance).

6. Kevin Twardus

Biography:

Kevin has twelve years experience designing and deploying OSS solutions for service providers. He is currently working on the development of tools, methods, and infrastructure roadmap in support of the Operations Support Systems lifecycle for IMS. He leads a working group within the Telemanagement Forum that is defining the NGOSS Technology Neutral Architecture in terms of Web services specifications and technology.

7. Jaijit Bhattacharya

Biography:

Jaijit is Head e-Governance Centers of Excellence for Asia Pacific at Oracle Corporation. The five centers in India, China, Sri Lanka, Philippines and Malaysia focus on e-governance issues of South Asia and South-East Asia. Jaijit also advises governments on e-governance strategies and has conducted workshops that enable government departments to create their own e-governance roadmap. He is also an e-Governance advisor to Government of Sri Lanka and Government of Karnataka.
Prior to his tenure at Oracle, he has worked as a consultant in Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) and subsequently as a researcher in e-Governance technologies in IBM India Research Labs. He has been involved in developing technologies for e-governance and in implementation of very large systems in over nine countries. He has also developed business models and strategies for governments and for leading companies in the IT, media and computer hardware industries. He has numerous research papers to his credit in leading journals and conferences.
He has also co-authored ‘Government On-line – Opportunities and Challenges’, published by Tata McGraw Hill. The book focuses on providing e-Government decision makers the information they need to be able to make decisions for architecting a roadmap for implementation of e-Governance projects. The book was released by the honourable President of India, Shri Abdul Kalam. He is also advisor to Government of Karnataka, Sri Lanka and to the Velugu which is the world’s largest poverty reduction program. Jaijit did his B.,Tech in Electrical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. He is currently doing his PhD from Department of Computer Science, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He is a member of IEEE and ACM.
